DescriptionA fab way to get a feel for Slovenia’s least discovered Eastern side in one day.
Off the beaten track you won’t encounter any queues, but see more of what is best about this country.
Ptuj offers a walk back into Slovenian history while the sights in the Rogatec countryside, where people work the land for their living will reveal you the secret of a tranquil and self-sufficient way of living.
Maribor, the second-biggest city in Slovenia, is surrounded by unspoiled rolling green hills and vineyards. It boasts a rich industrial heritage but soon after getting away from the city we get to the terroirs of excellent wines.
A mention for football fans: the club with the most Slovenian trophies is from this city.
A trip with simple, but nice surprises on every step.

Program (10 hours)
Maribor, the second biggest Slovenian city, is the place we stop to see the oldest vine in the world,
still growing next to the Drava river.
There is now a wine center, we can go for some wine tasting.
A walk around the city unveils step by step and brick by brick how this city has been creating its own way through the time. From a craftsmen settlement to one of the industrial hubs of former Yugoslavia. And finally into a pleasant place to stay, having in front a bright future today.
After a pleasant scenic drive, we reach Slovenia’s oldest town, Ptuj.
We visit the museum in the old castle overlooking the medieval town and the river. You will also have some relax time to stroll down to explore the town.
After the drive over seven hills and seven valleys, as Loopy's mother's aunt would say, we come to Rogatec.
The town with the biggest open-air museum in Slovenia is an educative and informative sight where we get in touch with the farming tradition and chores of the past.

He helped us decide on the trip destinations and we had another wonderful day seeing the must see tourist spots and then the real Croatia in the small hilltop villages! He took us to a great cafe for our morning coffee and a fantastic local restaurant for truffles and pasta etc. for lunch!
Bart gave lots of insight into Croatia its history and the way they live! We loved the day!
We were so excited to see Slovenia but found it difficult to find a tour that would take us to the less discovered areas of Slovenia and give us a more authentic view of the country without having to pay through the nose for a private tour. Loopy Slovenia was the answer!
We did both the East Loop and the West Loop tours with Jernej. Right after booking the tours we communicated with Jernej about what we were looking to see and experience on our trip. He really went out of his way to ensure that we had a memorable experience focused on our passions.
The East Loop was our favorite. We saw a local's side of Slovenia. The countryside and the people out there were wonderful! We enjoyed great wine, history, and scenery. We did the excursion in Rogatec. After visiting the outdoor museum, we had to opportunity to sit down with the woman who ran the museum and really speak with her about past and modern life in Slovenia. It was very interesting to speak with a local about her culture and a memory we will always treasure.
The West Loop is a bit more touristic but extremely beautiful! Jernej took us along a mountain pass that is off the beaten track and it took our breath away. We then stopped by a little cafe where a local woman treated us to some local brandy and spoke with us about what it means to be Slovenian. The highlight though was our meal in Smartno, Brda. We paid for the extra excursion and were not disappointed. Everything about our experience with Loopy Slovenia was a true pleasure.
We can't thank them enough for making our honeymoon so wonderful and memorable!
Slovenia is a beautiful country and Loopy Slovenia the best option ever!!
Jernej (Bart) is a really nice and flexible person. He knows a lot about his country and Slovenian culture. We were a 20 people group and we did both tours with him.
West Loop was simply perfect. We visited Bled, Bohinj lake, Postojna Caves and Predjama Castle, which are the highlights of this area. It was snowy, so the views were even better!
In the East loop we could visit the main cities in the country (Maribor, Ptuj, Celje) and that let us know a little more about Slovenian history and culture. What's more, Jernej took us for a walking tour in Ljubljana the day after our first Loop.
I'd recommend Loopy Slovenia to you, but I should advice you to be careful: after doing the tour, you will miss this country too much! I'm planning going back there soon ;)
We took the East Loop and saw a lot of the beautiful country. We had very interesting stops, enough time to explore the towns and enjoy the views. It's a great way of travelling in a country with a very poor public transport system.
The guide (Jernej or you can call him Bart) is very enthousiastic and knows a lot of the country and Slovenian history. He's very willing to help you with everything and drives safely.
Many, many thanks to Jernej for the fantastic tour yesterday.
We arranged for a private tour, and we hoped to see my grandparents’ hometowns.
No only did Jernej find the hometowns, he found their baptismal records, my grandpa’s twin brother’s grave, and even some long lost cousins that I’ve heard about but never met! We not only met them, but had dinner with them, and their families!
Again, thank you, Jernej! Your went over and above our expectations.
